Thumbs Up Award

Each year, starting in January – before the May Hudson Children’s Book Festival, The Hudson Literacy Fund works with teachers and librarians engaging elementary and middle school students to read and review books of authors coming to the festival. Students critique the work with one to five thumbs up on review cards which are tallied in the library on a leader board.

Over the last three years, students have read and reviewed more than 5,000 books. The readers are critical reviewers and enjoy giving their honest opinions.

Six of the most read and reviewed authors are given a framed certificate at the authors’ cocktail party the night before the festival.
